Ice makers get condemned on the wrong evidence more often than any other component in this trade. The cubes sitting in the bin are the diagnosis. A mold being underfed turns out cubes that are small, hollow or dished in the top, and that traces back to the supply every time: the filter, the pressure reaching the valve, or a fill tube half closed with ice. A machine making nothing at all inside a compartment that is genuinely cold has a harvest problem instead, which lands on the module, its thermostat or its motor. Outdoor ice machines here have a harder job than anything indoors and they get asked to do it at the worst possible moment.
