Brands we service in Poway
Poway kitchens tend toward one of two combinations, and a good share of the equipment we are called to is not in the kitchen at all.
The pairing we open most often is a Sub-Zero built-in with a Wolf range beside it, put in when the house was built or during the remodel that took the wall out between the kitchen and the family room. The second pattern is Viking through the whole kitchen, which turns up more on the older custom lots and on the properties that added an outdoor kitchen later. Thermador shows up more in the newer construction out on the ring of zip codes around the city, where the induction cooktops and the refrigeration columns bring more electronics with them than anything else fitted in these houses.
Then there is the equipment nobody counts. Poway calls itself the City in the Country and it has the lots to back that up, so a large share of the refrigeration on our route is a second unit by the garage door, an upright freezer in a shop or a tack room, or an undercounter refrigerator and an ice machine set into masonry out by the pool. Almost none of that is living in the conditions its ratings plate assumed. A garage that runs far over a hundred on an August afternoon and drops toward sweater weather before dawn is a harder posting than any kitchen, which is why the badge on the door matters less to the diagnosis than the room the unit is standing in.

Cubes had been coming out small and dished in the top for weeks and I assumed the ice maker was finished. He put a gauge on the inlet valve instead of guessing, asked about our well and the softener, and it turned out the mold was never filling all the way.
Roasts wanted an extra half hour and the browning had gone uneven, so I thought the Wolf was on its way out. He left a probe sitting at rack level, showed me how far under it was actually running, and changed the sensor. First person to ask whether we were on propane.
Upright freezer in the shop building frosted straight back up a week after I chipped it clear, and there was water sitting on the slab under it. The drain had been thawing and refreezing with the swing we get out there. He traced the whole line rather than poking at it.
